Who Was St. Monica?
St. Monica (c. 331–387 AD) was the mother of St. Augustine, one of the greatest saints and theologians in Church history. She is most known for her unwavering prayer, patience, and faith, especially in praying for the conversion of her son Augustine, who lived a wayward life for many years, and for her pagan husband, Patricius.
Through her tireless prayers, tears, and love, Augustine converted and later became a bishop and Doctor of the Church. St. Monica is now the patron saint of mothers, wives, difficult marriages, and those praying for wayward children or loved ones.
