Explanation of the image of the Virgin Untier of Knots
Looking at the painting, we see the Blessed Virgin between heaven and earth. She is beautifully dressed in a red dress and a blue mantle on her shoulder which seems to be blown by the wind. Above her is the dove a symbol of the Holy Spirit. On her head is the crown of stars and temple of the Holy Spirit. On her head is the crown of stars and under her feet is the moon whereby she is stepping on the serpent. Mary is the Immaculate [a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet]
Mary is also surrounded by angels. To the right is St. Michael the Archangel whose name means, ‘’Who is like God’’ To the left is the Archangel, Gabriel whose name means, ‘’The who is in the presence of God’’ At the bottom of the Image is the Archangel Raphael, ‘’The Medicine of God’’ and Tobias who are walking together.
Mary is quite active with her right ear listening to the voice of God [I am the handmaid of the Lord]. From St. Michael the Archangel she receives the entangled ribbon full of big and small separated or piled up knots. She is busy untying the knots and passes the free ribbon to St. Gabriel the Archangel.
The Archangel Raphael and Tobias are walking together towards the home of the latter’s betrothed to break the curse that killed seven husbands on their wedding night.
What are this Knots in our Life?
The KNOTS represent the original sin with its consequences; Knots of personal kind, of Family, work and like in common it also be your Sickness. All these Knots, which are nothing but Sins, weakening our Faith to the point that God’s grace cannot freely flow through the ribbon of our life. But Mary’s perseverance and maternal love impel us constantly towards obedience and with her hands she unties one by one all the knots that separate us with God.
The ribbon with big and small knots, some together and some apart slide from one angel who is bring to Mary and the other angel is taking from her the untied knots telling us that we should pray with confidence.
Mary always listened in humility to the will of God and together with her Son she intercedes for us with kindness, simplicity and greatness. Through her example, she shows how to unrevel the skin our lives to free, enlighten us and help us to see with clarity the bonds of love that unite us to the Lord.
In this novena we bring to the lord through Mary our long-standing problems which we carry on for years without knowing how to solve them. Those sims and vices, which imprison us and impede us to welcome wholly God our Father in our life. Let us give this knots their proper names and in a spirit of Faith in prayer present them to Mary, she will untie them one by one for us. The list of knots that suffocate our souls may be long, they are hidden within us and continue to wage war within us thus stealing our God given joy, peace, harmony, and communion within ourselves and with others.

To Mary Mother of God, Untier of Knots
Mary may all generations proclaim you blessed. You believed the Archangel Gabriel, and in you were fulfilled all the great things that he had announced to you. My soul and my entire being praise you, Mary. You believed totally in the incarnation of the Son of God in your virginal womb, and you became the mother of God.
Then the happiest day in the History of the world dawned. Humanity received the Divine, the sole eternal Priest, the victim who would make reparation, the universal king. Faith is a gift of God and the root of every good.
Mary untie Knots that prevent us grow in Faith. With your holy hands O Mary, untie those knots that prevent us to live the teachings of the Gospel and of the holy Church. Untie those knots that make us lazy to meditate and accept the word of your Son as a rule of life for us.

Mary Untier of knots, pray for us your Son as our Lord, now and forever. Amen
Mary, Untier of Knots
Holy Mary, full of the presence of God. During the days of your life, you accepted with humility the will of the Father and the Evil one was never able to ensnare you with his confusion. Always at your son’s side, you intercede for us in our difficulties and with all simplicity and patience, give us an example of how to undo all that is tangled in our lives. Remaining for all time as our mother, you fix and strengthen the bonds that unite us with the Lord.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, you who with a maternal heart undo the knots that block our lives, we ask you to receive (name the Knots in your life or in the life that person whom you are offering the Knots on his/her behalf). (name of the person) into your hands and that you free him/her from all attachments and confusion through which he/she is harassed by the enemy. By your grace and your intercession and with your example, free us from all evil, Our Lady, and untie the knots that prevent us from being united to God, so that free from all confusion and error, we might find him present in everything, we might place our hearts in his, and we might serve him always in our Brothers and Sisters. Amen

And Mary said, "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word." And the angel departed from her. (Luke 1:38)
Dearest Holy Mother, you are generous with all who seek you, have mercy on me. I entrust into your hands this knot which robs the peace of my heart, paralyzes my soul and keeps me from going to my Lord and serving Him with my life.
Undo this knot in my love...., O mother, and ask Jesus to heal my paralytic faith which gets down hearted with the stones on the road. Along with you, dearest Mother, may I see these stones as friends. Not murmuring against them anymore but giving endless thanks for them, may I smile trustingly in your power.

Scripture Reading
At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea, where she entered Zechariah’s home and greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. In a loud voice she exclaimed: “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear! But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!” (Luke 1:39-45)
Mother, Undoer of Knots, generous and compassionate, I come to You today to once again entrust this knot...in my life to you and to ask the divine wisdom to undo, under the light of the Holy Spirit, this snarl of problems. No one ever saw you angry; to the contrary, your words were so charged with sweetness that the Holy Spirit was manifested on your lips. Take away from me the bitterness, anger and hatred which this knot has caused me. Give me, o dearest Mother, some of the sweetness and wisdom that is all silently reflected in your heart. And just as you were present at Pentecost, ask Jesus to send me a new presence of the Holy Spirit at this moment in my life. Holy Spirit, come upon me!
Mary, Undoer of Knots, pray for me.

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son Our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into Hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into Heaven, and sited at the right hand of God, the Father almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and life everlasting. Amen.
Act of Faith
O my God, I firmly believe that you are one God in three divine Persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. I believe that your divine Son became man and died for our sins and that he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe these and all the truths which the Holy Catholic Church teaches because you have revealed them who are eternal truth and wisdom, who can neither deceive nor be deceived. In this faith I intend to live and die. Amen.
Act of Hope
O Lord God, I hope by your grace for the pardon of all my sins and after life here to gain eternal happiness because you have promised it who are infinitely powerful, faithful, kind, and merciful. In this hope I intend to live and die. Amen.
Act of Love
O Lord God, I love you above all things and I love my neighbor for your sake because you are the highest, infinite and perfect good, worthy of all my love. In this love I intend to live and die. Amen.
To Mary Untier of Knots
Mary, Beloved Mother, channel of all grace, I return to You today my heart, recognizing that I am a sinner in need of your help. I entrust into Your hands this knot [mention your request here] which keeps me from reflecting the glory of God.
Mary, Undoer of Knots, pray for me.
Virgin Mary, Mother of fair love, Mother who never refuses to come to the aid of a child in need, Mother whose hands never cease to serve your beloved children because they are moved by the divine love and immense mercy that exist in your heart, cast your compassionate eyes upon me and see the snarl of knots that exists in my life. You know very well how desperate I am, my pain, and how I am bound by these knots. Mary, Mother to whom God entrusted the undoing of the knots in the lives of his children, I entrust into your hands the ribbon of my life. No one, not even the evil one himself, can take it away from your precious care. In your hands there is no knot that cannot be undone. Powerful Mother, by your grace and intercessory power with Your Son and My Liberator, Jesus, take into your hands today this knot.
Introductory Prayers Pray the first three decade of the Rosary (Mysteries are according to the mystery of the day)
Scripture Reading
And Mary said: “My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me holy is his name. His mercy extends to those who fear him from generation to generation. He has performed mighty deeds with his arm; he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts. He has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble. He has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away empty. (Luke 1:46-53)
Queen of Mercy, I entrust to you this knot in my life...and I ask you to give me a heart that is patient until you undo it. Teach me to persevere in the living word of Jesus, in the Eucharist, the Sacrament of Confession; stay with me and prepare my heart to celebrate with the angels the grace that will be granted to me. Amen! Alleluia!
Mary, Undoer of Knots, pray for me.
You are beautiful, Mary, and there is no stain of sin in You.
O my Lady, you are the only consolation God gives me, the fortification of my feeble strength, the enrichment of my destitution and with Christ the freedom from my chains.

Scripture Reading
On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no more wine. “Woman, why do you involve me?” Jesus replied. “My hour has not yet come.” His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.” (John 2:1-5)
Virgin Mother of God, overflowing with mercy, have mercy on your child and undo this knot...in my life. I need your visit to my life, like you visited Elizabeth. Bring me Jesus, bring me the Holy Spirit. Teach me to practice the virtues of courage, joyfulness, humility and faith, and, like Elizabeth, to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Make me joyfully rest on your bosom, Mary. I consecrate you as my mother, Queen and friend. I give you my heart and everything I have (my home and family, my material and spiritual goods.) I am yours forever. Put your heart in me so that I can do everything Jesus tells me.
Mary, Undoer of Knots, pray for me.
Let us go, therefore, full of trust, to the throne of grace.
O my Lady, you are the only consolation God gives me, the fortification of my feeble strength, the enrichment of my destitution and with Christ the freedom from my chains.
